COLLECTION 1983

Housed in a former wood factory - abandoned during the Lebanese civil war and later occupied by militias - these walls bear the remnants of its layered past. The raw concrete walls, once silent witnesses to conflict, became an unintended canvas for soldiers' fleeting expressions - posters, photographs, and handwritten notes affixed to the surface as war raged around them.
Initially drawn to the space to see an exhibition, I found myself captivated by these fragments of history, their faded images and torn edges revealing a palimpsest of personal and collective memory. Locked away and long neglected, these traces offer a rare glimpse into the minds of those who once inhabited this space, preserving their presence in absence.
This project explores the tension between erasure and remembrance, engaging with the materiality of time and the ways in which visual remnants shape our understanding of history.
